By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, Jan 1 - Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modis visit to Silchar on January 4, the Cachar district BJP is all set to turn the occasion into a gala campaign for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

Former Union Minister and veteran BJP leader Kabindra Purkayastha said that the visit of the Prime Minister will encourage the party workers to work hard for the ensuing Lok Sabha election.

Meanwhile, district BJP president Kaushik Rai said that all steps are being taken to make the visit a grand success. The Ramnagar bypass where the Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public rally has been fully prepared in order to accommodate more and more people. In 2014, when he came before the elections, he had promised the people to usher in development in the valley, and we all have witnessed how the long-pending broad-gauge rail line started in 2015. The gathering would be massive, and, therefore brisk preparations are on the make the rally a grand success, Rai reiterated.

Further, Rai informed that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, state BJP president Ranjit Dass along with partys election observers for Assam Mahendra Singh will reach Silchar on January 3 to take stock of the proceedings.

Our cadres are toiling hard to make the event successful. While the stage and other arrangements are in full swing, the SPG team has already arrived to check the security arrangements for the PMs visit, Rai added.

On the other hand, the district BJP chief slammed the agencies looking to spoil the PMs visit by staging protest on the closure of the Cachar and Nagaon Paper Mills, units of the government-run Hindustan Paper Corporation. Do not play in hands of the Congress and stage protest. The Congress has ruined the mills. Have faith on Prime Minister, Rai maintained.
