Stage set for int�l football friendly

GUWAHATI, Nov 4 � Assam Football Association (AFA) has almost completed all arrangements for the November 13 international friendly football match between India and Malaysia national teams.

Giving details about the arrangements, AFA secretary Ankur Dutta said in a press conference today that the Indian team will arrive here on November 10 while their Malaysian counterpart will reach here next day at 9.30 am. The foreign team will be accommodated at Hotel Nakshatra while the Indian team will stay at Landmark Hotels.

The match will be played at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Sarusajai here and the kick-off is at 5.45 pm. Assam Governor JB Patnaik will inaugurate the match.

The AFA secretary expressed his satisfaction over the ground which is almost ready to hold the match.

As far practice is concerned, Dutta said, Indian players may have some stressing work on November 11 at either Judges� Field or at SAI ground. On November 12 both the teams will have final work-out sessions at the match venue.

Dutta further revealed that State police, local administration and Sports Authority of Assam are rendering their support for the match which is first of its kind in the entire north-eastern region. AFA will also deploy security personnel of their own.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) will provide major part of the expenditure. AFA has also hooked in Star Cement, Airtel and Asomiya Pratidin group as organising partners.

The organisers have fixed the rates of tickets for the match. For VIPs the rate will be of Rs 600 each while for covered gallery with chair, the rate has been fixed at Rs 300 each. For general spectators, the ticket rate is Rs 50 and for students Rs 30. Schools have to collect tickets as no ticket will be issued to students individually. Buses will be made available from various points of the city. After the match, spectators will get buses till 10 am from the stadium.

AFA president Hemendra Nath Brahma, vice-president Manoj Patra and joint secretary Ramesh Phukan were also present in the press conference.
