GUWAHATI, March 16 - The 3rd Assam Down Town University International Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament will begin at the University�s Panikhaiti campus here from March 22.
Around 150 players from the region have already confirmed their participation in this 10- round Swiss League event to be played over six days.
The tournament is being organised by the Assam Chess Club, an affiliated unit of city based sports promotion NGO Akshayam which is recognised by the World Chess Federation.
The tournament is open to any player with basic knowledge of the international laws of the game. The last date for registration is March 21.
