SSLC papers leaked in Garo Hills

By Biplab Kr Dey

TURA, Oct 26 - Almost a year after papers pertaining to internal assessment for SSLC examination were leaked in the plain belt of Garo Hills, a fresh paper leakage of the examination to begin tomorrow has been reported.

The paper leak became public after members of the Anti Corruption League (ACL) found students carrying question sheets yesterday.

The matter was immediately reported to Deputy Commissioner (DC) of West Garo Hills district who has ordered an immediate enquiry into the matter to find the source of the leak. The police along with Subdivisional Education Officer has been notified of the leak to ensure the exams were not affected.

The ACL has come down heavily on the leakage of the paper. We condemn this leak of question paper and demand an enquiry to ascertain how the papers were leaked. Each subject paper, according to a report, costs about Rs 10,000 with students then selling a copy to their friends for Rs 300, alleged ACL general secretary Mostapha Kabir. We have copies of almost all the papers and the examinations have not even started, he added.

The leak is suspected to have started either from Rajabala or Bhaitbari, both in WGH. We are investigating the leak and will find out the source soon. The authorities concerned have all been notified of the leak, said DC Pravin Bakshi.

The DC said that the SDEO would have to make a call on whether the examinations would be held or be cancelled due to the leak.
