SSLC papers leak: principal under scanner

By Biplab Kr Dey

TURA, Nov 15 - The committee examining the leakage of the internal assessment papers for the just concluded SSLC examinations has stood by its findings of the papers being leaked by the principal of the Rajabala Higher Secondary School, Rafiqul Islam.

The committee has also stood by its recommendations of disaffiliating the school for the act of the principal as well as seeking a strong action against the principal as well as the school managing committee. Islam, however, had later sent a clarification denying any involvement in the leakage of the paper.

The internal assessment papers of six subjects had been allegedly leaked from the school two days prior to the beginning of the exam. The matter was brought to the notice of authorities by the Anti-Corruption League of New Bhaitbari in West Garo Hills who had got copies of the paper from students.

The DC of West Garo Hills, Pravin Bakshi, confirmed that the committee had submitted its report along with the recommendations a few days ago. They have stood by their findings and have pointed to the principal despite him stating otherwise. The investigation was done by an independent body comprising government employees amongst others and these were the findings of all of them after verifying information, said Bakshi.

We have asked the DSEO and the committee to immediately file an FIR in this regard on the same day and hopefully it has been done. Now it will be upon the police to take further action on the matter, added Bakshi.

The principal had tried to question the whole process of keeping question papers and its security. If that was the question, why did he not bring the issue up earlier and only now after he is allegedly behind the leakage of the papers? asked Bakshi.
