Srirampur-Silchar portion to be completed by 2014

GUWAHATI, July 12 � Construction of the East-West Corridor between Srirampur and Silchar is scheduled to be completed by December, 2014, said Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ajanta Neog in the State Assembly here today. She was replying to a motion raised by Prafulla Kumar Mahanta (AGP) according to the Rule 301 on the progress made in developing the NH-37 into a four-lane road.

The Minister said that as per the schedule fixed for the purpose, the Srirampur-Baihata and Guwahati (Khanapara)-Jagiroad portions of the Corridor are to be completed by December, 2012.

However, the construction of the flyovers between Srirampur and Baihata and at Jorabat would not be completed within this timeframe, she said, adding, the construction of the flyover at Jorabat is scheduled to be completed by March, 2013.

The Baihata Chariali-Guwahati portion of the Corridor is scheduled to be completed by December 2013.

The Jagiroad-Nagaon and Nagaon-Lumding portions of the Corridor will be completed by March 2012, while its Lumding-Silchar portion is scheduled to be completed by December, 2014, said the Minister.
