Srimanta Shankar Academy win thrilling final

GUWAHATI, Nov 27 � Requiring 12 runs off the final over, Srimanta Shankar Academy batsman Kabyajyoti Das kept his cool and smacked one six and a four to drag the match in their favour with just one ball to spare.

It was thrilling final of the Sitaram Agarwalla Memorial U-17 Inter School Cricket Championship, organised by Bud Cricket Club at Judges� Field here today, which Shankar Academy won by one wicket against Delhi Public School (DPS), Guwahati. Chasing a tough winning target of 191 runs set by DPS in 35 overs, Shankar Academy scored 191 losing nine wickets in 34.5 overs.

Hrishikesh Tamuly cracked a strokeful 85 off 73 balls for DPS which virtually enabled his team in reaching a commendable total. Amit Vikram (24) and Krishnarjun Hazarika (22) were their other notable contributors.

After making a good start, the Shankar Academy suffered a middle order collapse and were in a tight corner at the later stage. But a match winning knock of unbeaten 63 off 51 balls by Kabyajyoti rescued his team. Tanuj Kalita (26) and Chandru Das (21) added valuable runs for Shankar Academy.

Kabyajyoti received the man-of-the final award while Abhimanyu Mimani was declared man-of-the-tournament. Hrishikesh Tamuly (best batsman), Akshay Narain (best bowler), Rohan Dutta (best fielder), Abhijit Roy (best wicketkeeper) were the other award winners.

Aditys Gautam, Jiban Das, Abhinash Terang, Riyan Parag, Aman Kalita, Rishikesh Deka, Abhijit Sonowal, Dhrubajit Kalita, Kabyajyoti Das and Krishnav K Kalita were presented awards as promising players from different schools.
