Srimanta Sankardeva�s birth anniversary

NAGAON, Oct 7 � A festive atmosphere prevailed at Bordua, the birth place of the Jagatguru during the 566th birth anniversary of the great saint-reformer Sreemanta Sankardeva.

The function started on October 3 with Taal Kubua Prasanga, which was followed by Manjira Naam and Aai Sokolor Naam.

The cultural procession arranged on the occasion was formally flagged off by Satradhikar Devananda Dev Goswami, who is the president of the Thaan Parisalana Samiti. Ceremonial lamp were lit to mark the occasion at Batadrava Thaan and the Doul Mandir premises.

Ankiya Bhaona and other cultural activities also presented during the two-day programme.

A seminar was also held where Sankari scholar Saktimoy Das described the works of Sankardev and called upon those present to spread his creativity among the people of the globe.

Under the auspices of Sankardev Sangha, the birth anniversary was also observed at Nagaon from October 3 to 5.

Antaranga Alaap was arranged among the Bhaktas, which was conducted by Prafulla Chandra Bora and formally inaugurated by secretary Babul Bora. Among others, Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain also attended the occasion.

Sangha members aged above 75 years were felicitated at the function as a part of the itinerary.
