GUWAHATI, March 15 � The State wing of the Samajwadi Party today announced its first list of candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
State president of the party HRA Chowdhury told this newspaper that the party�s national election committee has approved the names of Rinku Malakar for the Karimganj (SC) seat. For the Dhubri Lok Sabha seat, the national election committee of the party has approved the name of six-time MLA and three-time Congress minister Afzalur Rahman as the party nominee, while Abdul Awal has been named as the party nominee for the Barpeta Lok Sabha seat and Ratul Kumar Choudhury has been named as the party nominee for the Mangaldoi seat, Chowdhury said.
The party�s national election committee is expected to approve the names of the candidates for the Silchar, Nagaon and Guwahati Lok Sabha seats soon, Chowdhury said.
The party initially announced its desire to contest for six seats. Now, it has increased the tally in this respect by adding the Guwahati seat to its list, Chowdhury said.
