GUWAHATI, June 27 � State Sports Minister Ajit Singh today expressed his deep concern over the naming of Guwahati team for the Indian Super League (ISL) which is named North East United FC, which is missing the name of the city.
While attending a meeting to review the progress of the renovation works of the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai here, the venue of the ISL, Singh opined that, as the home matches of the Guwahati franchise will be hosted here and the IMG Reliance has allotted the franchise to Guwahati only. So the name of Guwahati should have been included in the team�s name by the owners.
The meeting was held in the Sports Minister�s official chamber where Sports Commissioner Ajoy Tiwari, Joint Director of Sports Anjan Sarma, Assam Football Association secretary Ankur Dutta along with PWD and Sports department officials were present.
