GUWAHATI, June 20 � Sport Minister Ajit Singh today met the district sports officers (DSO) and urged them to work at the grassroot level in order to produce more players from the rural areas.
Sing was meeting the DSOs to distribute funds for holding tournaments under the Panchayat Yuva Krira Aur Khel Abhijan (PYKKA) scheme.
Addressing the officers, Singh said the DSOs are the pillars of rural sports and they should work together for the betterment of sports in their respective areas. He also warned the officers not to misuse the funds and organise all the events in the best possible way.
Earlier, Director of Sports Sanjib Gohain Baruah welcomed the gathering while Commissioner Ajay Tiwary gave details of the activities carried out by the department. Sports Secretary Santanu Thakur and other top officers of the sports department were also present on the occasion.
