Sport climbing medals for Assam

GUWAHATI, Oct 27 - Assam bagged one silver and two bronze medals in the 18th North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition 2016, held at Kangla Rock Wall, MMTA complex Minuthong, Imphal.

Among 18 participants in the girls sub junior category, Mousumi Das won the silver medal in the Lead Climbing event and won a bronze medal in Bouldering Climb. Janki Devi won a bronze medal in the Bouldering event.

Both Mousumi and Janki have been selected for the national championship to be held at Bangalore on December 17, stated a release issued by Tarun Saikia.

The competition was jointly organised by the IMF North East Zone Sport Climbing Committee, Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association, Manipur Sports Climbing Association in association with Assam Rifles under the aegis of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi.

A total number of 121 climbers from States like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Mizoram and host State Manipur took part in the meet where Manipur emerged overall champions.
