Spirituality must for discipline in society: Sonowal

GUWAHATI, Aug 2 - Knowledge is the power attained through experience and that is why the power of knowledge must be transferred to one�s work life, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said today.

He was speaking at a function while inaugurating the guest house of North Guwahati branch of Auniati Sattra and laying the foundation stone of the Kalakshetra of the sattra at North Guwahati.

�Spiritual awareness is important for a noble mind. The young generation must propagate humanistic values through spiritual awakening,� Sonowal said.

Stating that the Sattradhikar of Auniati Sattra Pitambar Dev Goswami has been able to spread spiritual awareness in society both within the country and outside, Sonowal said that spirituality is a must for instilling discipline in society and for leading a peaceful life.

Acknowledging Pitambar Dev Goswami�s role in spreading knowledge in society, the Chief Minister said that without human values no society can prosper and people must create an environment conducive to emotional wellbeing and natural serenity through spiritual power.

Stating that the glory of 6,000 years of Indian cultural heritage must not be allowed to be overshadowed by superstitious beliefs, Sonowal called on the teachers and parents to make efforts to nurture good human beings as society cannot progress in the true sense without good people.

�The ideals of Srimanta Sankaradeva, Mahapurush Madhabdeva and Mahapurush Damodardeva must be followed to take society forward,� he said.

The Chief Minister also appreciated Auniati Sattra for donating a 12-bigha plot of land for building a stadium at Dhing in Nagaon.

Auniati Sattra�s Sattradhikar Pitambar Dev Goswami gave the welcome address at the programme which was attended by chairmen and vice chairmen of various boards and corporations.
