By Sports Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 22 - A spirited Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Club (NFR SC) came from behind to snatch a 3-2 victory against Gauhati Town Club (GTC) in their RG Baruah Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) Super Division Football League match at the Nehru Stadium here today.

The railmen rode on Sanjay Sils brace and their fleet footed striker Chayaram Basumatary to secure full points in the 65th minute.

Despite having conceded two early goals, the former champions kept their cool and composure to snatch full points.

With the referee whistling for the kick-off, Gauhati Town Club started on the offensive and it didnt take much long to take the lead as Biman Singh made absolutely no mistake in taking advantage of a defence lapse in the second minute.

To make things worse for the railmen, it was Chappa who scored the second goal in the 18th minute. Having received a pass from Bijoy Singh in the left flank, Chappas lobbed attempt on target left the NF Railway custodian Sukanta Roy with no reply.

Trailing by two goals, the railmen sighed in relief when Chayaram Basumatarys strike hit the hand of a GTC defender inside the penalty box. Sankar Sil, who stepped in to take the set piece, ensured the desired result in the 29th minute.

It was yet again Sankar Sil, who came to his sides rescue with the equaliser in the 39th minute. Sils powerful strike from inside the box left GTC glovesman Subol Rabha gasping.

Chayaram Basumatary pounced on Rabhas fumble off a Bappa Biswas strike in the 65th minute to give NF Railway the decisive goal. An unmarked Chayaram utilised the opportunity.

Despite repeated inroads and attempts to draw parity, the GTC forward line failed to find the required result.

The GTC players missed out on a number of chances towards the dying minutes of the game.
