NEW DELHI, Nov 28 � Amidst speculation over imminent change of Assam Congress president, State minister Akon Bora today rushed to the National Capital to meet top leaders of the Congress party.
Bora�s meeting with AICC general secretary Dr CP Joshi follows report that he was been included in the panel selected for the post of PCC president.
As reported, the AICC has drawn up a panel of names that included Anjan Dutta, Ripun Bora, Rockybul Hussain and Bharat Narah.
Sources said, while Dutta�s name has been dropped following his questioning by CBI, Rockybul Hussain and Bharat Narah�s name were short-listed. Interestingly, all three are Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi loyalists.
However, sources close to Narah told this newspaper that he may not be keen to take up the new responsibility as he is planning to contest 2016 Assembly polls.
Sources said that Bora is likely to meet party vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday.
