Special voter enrolment drive in Meghalaya from July 1

SHILLONG, June 16 - Election Commission has said it will launch a special enrolment drive for about 1 lakh first time electors in the age group of 18 to 21 years from July 1.

�As per instructions of the EC, a special drive will begin on July 1 and conclude on July 31 and preparatory exercises is being taken with regards to schools and colleges where we have launched programmes for enrolment,� Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer F Kharkongor said here recently.

He said the State Election office has projected about 1 lakh plus new voters and majority of them are in East Khasi Hills district. � PTI
