Special summary revision of rolls in State

GUWAHATI, Oct 5 � The Chief Electoral Officer, Assam, has ordered special summary revision of electoral rolls, with 01-01-11 as the qualifying date, in all the Legislative Assembly Constituencies of Assam and accordingly, the draft will be published on October 3 for four LACs, namely, 51-Jalukbari, 52-Dispur, 53-Gauhati East and 54-Gauhati West under Kamrup Metropolitan election district, Guwahati.

The schedule of revision has been fixed as follows � period for filing of claims and objections from October 30 to November 23, reading of relevant part/section of photo electoral rolls in gram sabha/local bodies and RWS meetings, etc, and verification of names on November 6 and 9, special campaign dates with booth level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections on November 7, 13 and 21, disposal of claims and objections on December 23, updating the database, merging of photographs, updating the control tables and preparation and printing of supplementary list on December 23 and January 3, 2011.

The final electoral rolls will be published on January 5, 2011. The copy of the draft electoral rolls will be available for inspection of the voters and general public at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup Metropolitan district, offices of all circle officers, chambers of SDO(S) and all polling stations, an official release said.
