DHUBRI, Dec 22 - A special lecture programme on �Discussion on Assamese language from socio-linguistic perspective� was organised recently by the Assamese Department of BN College, Dhubri.
The programme was presided over by Dr Upendrajit Sharma, senior member of Asam Sahitya Sabha and HoD of Assamese department of BN College and was inaugurated by Dr Dhruba Chakrabarty, Principal of the college. Dr Umesh Das, a noted litterateur and Assistant Prof of Chilrai College, Assamese Department delivered the special lecture in presence of hundreds of students and academicians. He described different angles of socio-linguistic perspective of Assamese Language. Das also enlightened the gathering about various features of Assamese language and mentioned about various personalities who played important roles in developing the Assamese language. � Correspondent
