Souvenir, docu-feature film of Assam Jatiya Bidyalay released

GUWAHATI, Feb 25 - In a bid to preserve the different activities of the year-long silver jubilee celebration of Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Noonmati, a souvenir along with a docu-feature film prepared to preserve the history of the glorious journey of the school, was released on February 24 on the school campus, said a press release today. The silver jubilee celebration of the school had started on January 1, 2018 and concluded on January 1 this year.

The 3-hour programme started with paying tributes to the martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack. Principal of the school Ghanashyam Medhi explained the significance of organising such an event after a year-long celebration of the silver jubilee of the school.

Senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan released the souvenir titled Alok Sandhani. He lauded the glorious journey of the Assamese medium private sector school and highlighted its positive impact on the academic setting of the entire State.

Secretary of the management committee of the school Dr Narayan Sarma, who edited the souvenir, said that the work is a chronicle of the last 25 years of the school.

Another compilation named Akanir Akash was released by senior advocate and columnist Arup Borbora. Borbora commended the role of Assam Jatiya Bidyalay in the present situation of the State.

One more compilation named Bakharor Galpa, a collection of short stories from the annual magazine of the school Bakhar, was released by renowned filmmaker Jahnu Barua. He said in his speech that only an institution like the Assam Jatiya Bidyalay can produce good citizens.

The docu-feature film was also screened on the occasion. Popular singer Surya Das enthralled the audience with some old numbers. Aatmaja, a collection of poems by the late Tridib Bhattacharya, a founder teacher, was released on the occasion.
