Sonowal reviews outbreak combating mechanism

DIBRUGARH, March 27 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the preparedness and combating mechanism of the district administration as well as the district health department to check the COVID-19 outbreak in the district.

In a review meeting held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner here on yesterday evening, Sonowal reiterated on maintaining social distancing so that infection could be checked.

The meeting was attended by officials from the Departments of Food and Civil Supply and Public Health Engineering and other departments connected with essential services. He requested the officials to render their sincere services during this challenging period and further demanded that they persuade social distancing among the masses.

The Chief Minister also asked the district administration to ensure total compliance of health protocol in villages and tea gardens with the help of gaon burahs and line watchmen. He particularly asked Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha to see that no one starved during the lockdown period. He asked the departments concerned to keep all essential goods adequately stocked so that people do not face scarcity.

Sonowal asked the district health department to be prepared with all its infrastructure including specific medical equipment and aprons to treat coronavirus infected patients. The IOCL was also asked to deliver LPG cylinders at the homes of customers through their agencies.

The Chief Minister had also visited Regional Medical Research Centre at Lahoal and Assam Medical College to review the preparedness.
