Sonowal kicks off BJP campaign for Lakhimpur

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Oct 30 - The ruling BJP kicked-off its poll campaign for the ensuing by-election to 14 Lakhimpur HPC with a call to vote for a developed and problem-free Assam on Friday.

Addressing a huge party rally in the playground of North Lakhimpur Govt HS School, North Lakhimpur on Friday, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal called on everyone to vote for the BJP for a corruption, foreigner and pollution-free Assam. He urged everyone to stand up for a developed Assam and ensured safety and security to all minority groups along with the indigenous population. The Chief Minister said that adequate measures would be taken to mitigate the erosion problem of the State and informed that experts had been consulted over the issue.

Earlier urging the public to vote for BJP candidate Pradan Baruah, the State Finance, Health and Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma called for a Bangladeshi free Assam. He asked everyone to vote for identity and development. The poll rally was also addressed by Tezpur and Mangaldai MPs Ram Prasad Sarma and Ramen Deka, State Sericulture Minister Ranjeet Dutta and Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley. The rally was also attended by Bihpuria and Gohpur MLAs Debananda Hazarika and Utpal Borah and the meeting was chaired by Bishnu Deori.
