Sonowal for prompt pension disbursement after retirement

GUWAHATI, June 28 - To give succour to superannuating government employees, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has instructed the Directorate of Pension to disburse pension immediately after retirement.

Chairing a meeting with officials of the pension department in the conference room of his office at Janata Bhawan today, Chief Minister Sonowal asked the Director of Pension to remove all slackness and ensure disbursement of pension immediately after an employee retires from service.

Sonowal also directed the pension department to formulate a comprehensive method comprising an exhaustive list featuring the names of the retirees one year ahead and asking them to submit their documents at least six month before retirement. He also asked the Director to set up an exclusive cell which would specially deal with disbursement of pension-related cases at an early date.

The Chief Minister also asked the Director to initiate discussions with employees� organisations to thrash out all encumbrances responsible for delaying the disbursement of pension. If necessary the Directorate of Pension should organise awareness meetings, he said. He also asked the State Chief Secretary to hold discussions with all the departmental heads to solve all pension-related disputes.

Legal Adviser to the Chief Minister Shantanu Bharali, Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Lohiya and senior officers of the Directorate of Pension were present at the meeting.
