Sonowal campaigns in Tingkhong

By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, March 24 - The State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Sarbananda Sonowal while campaigning for party candidate Bimal Bora in the 119-Tingkhong LAC today, said that illegal migrants were posing a threat to the indigenous population of the State as they had become a majority in at least nine districts of Assam. He, however did not reveal that his party is contemplating Indian citizenship to illegal Hindu Bangladeshis.

Addressing nearly 5,000 people who gathered at the Gandhi Maidan, near Tingkhong Higher Secondary School, Sonowal said that the population of illegal Bangladeshis and their infiltration was increasing due to the patronage of the Congress. We must check the Congress from coming to power so that we can protect our land and dignity. We need a change in the governance so that we can protect the rights of the indigenous people of Assam, he said.

Sonowal urged the people to elect the AGP-BJP combine candidate Bimal Bora in the constituency. He said that the AGP-BJP alliance will be a stable Government, which would strive to make the State one of the best in the country.

The BJP candidate Bimal Bora said that the present election was a fight for the protection of the rights and dignity of the indigenous people and not merely a contest to be an MLA or a Minister.
