TINSUKIA, April 15 - To take stock of the situation in the aftermath of the Pengeree incident in which 11 people died and many others received injuries, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sarbananda Sonowal alongwith Rameshwer Teli, MP, Dibrugarh visited Tinsukia Civil Hospital and interacted with the patients injured in the incident.
He announced Rs 1 lakh each as compensation to the family of each of those killed and Rs 25,000 each to the injured and assured better treatment on behalf of the BJP. He stated that the incident was very unfortunate and demanded a speedy inquiry into the matter. He also condoled the deaths and wished for quick recovery of the injured persons.
