Sonowal addresses poll rally at Bakalia; flays Cong, HSDC

DIPHU, June 12 - With election to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) nearing, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal addressed a massive election rally at Bakalia here today under Diphu Assembly Constituency.

While addressing the rally, Sonowal said that the BJP Government is committed to honour the pre-poll promises made before the Assembly election. Accordingly, the Government was fulfilling the poll promises related to development, the Chief Minister said.

Criticising the Congress as well as the then regional party ASDC and presently rechris-tened as the Hills State Demand Committee (HSDC), Sonowal said that people of the this hill district have been perennially deprived and betrayed since the last several decades by the two parties during their decades-long regime. People here lack good surface communication network, proper infrastructure, health facilities, education, etc. As a result, the common people have to silently suffer unbearable problems due to misrule by the Congress and regional party HSDC (ASDC), Sonowal added.

Not surprisingly, Sonowal assured to improve the poor condition of road connectivity and good infrastructure within the district.

Referring to the misrule during the Congress and HSDC (ASDC) tenure, he added that many welfare schemes formulated and implemented by the Government and meant for the poor people were blatantly misused. On the contrary, the BJP Government is committed to fulfil the aspirations of the hill people. Equal development and equal rights for all has been given due importance by the State Government, Sonowal added.

Besides, he said that issues pertaining to every community will be sympathetically considered under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister assured. While seeking people�s support in the ensuing KAAC election, Sonowal said, �We assure you our full commitment to fulfil our poll promises�.

Prominent among those present included RP Sharma, Biswarup Bhattacharyya, Sum Ronghang and Tuliram Ronghang to bolster support for the three BJP contenders.
