Soldier of Humanity Award for Niketu Iralu

KOKRAJHAR, July 22 � Noted social activist and peace initiator of the Naga imbroglio Niketu Iralu, a Gandhian and preacher of peace and non-violence has been selected by the jury of Upendra Nath Brahma Trust (UNBT) for the Upendra Nath Brahma Soldier of Humanity Award, 2011 to be handed over in a solemn ceremonial function at Kokrajhar Commerce College auditorium on July 24 by the trust, informed Krishna Gopal Basumatary, chairman UNBT and Ajit Kr Brahma of UNBT.

Patricia Mukhim, editor-in chief, The Shillong Times will attend the function as the guest of honour with Dr Kameswar Brahma, president of BSS, Promod Boro, president of ABSU while Dr Shiv Nath Barman, editor-in-chief, Janasadharan will grace the programme as the chief guest.

It may be mentioned here that Niketu Iralu of Nagaland has also received the Gopinath Bardoloi award earlier. Further the UNBT this time is conferring this award for the 8th consecutive year on those who are contributing towards social reforms and lasting peace in the society.
