SIVASAGAR, March 28 - Addressing a media workshop at Sivasagar Commerce College on Saturday organised by the Sivasagar Press Club, senior journalist and writer Mrinal Talukdar said that it is the social media which acts as the arbiter in the media world today with frontline journalism, while TV and newspapers do only the follow-up journalism. He, however, pointed out a few like Prantik of Pradip Boruah as exceptions. He said that the social media which is taking the 21st century world by storm, creates and un-creates events; builds up or destroys reputations. Talukdar further said that it is interesting as well as concerning that a few people like Ambani or Bill Gates that control the gateway virtually control the entire world through mobiles, internet and 4G. This multi-billion business follows the principle of demand and supply and not ethics of journalism, he added.
