Smriti Irani to address BJP rally at Nalbari

NALBARI, Dec 26 - In order to strengthen the organisational base of the party in lower Assam districts, the BJP is going to hold a zonal workers� meet at Gordon HS field here on December 28. The party has decided to gather as many as 50,000 party workers from six lower Assam districts, namely, Nalbari, North Kamrup, Baksa, Barpeta, Bajali and Chirang, district BJP president Ashok Sarma said.

Addressing a press conference here today, Sarma said that the Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani, national general secretary of BJP Ram Madhav, State BJP president and Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP Assam in-charge Mahendra Singh, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will address the gathering, among other party leaders. He added that BJP has 2452 booth committees in 19 constituencies under the six districts. All the booth committees have been directed to participate in the mass rally to make it a grand success. He further stated that zonal workers� meeting will gear up the party activities in lower Assam districts. The press meet was addressed, among others, by former MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah, district secretary Banadwip Deka and state secretary Bhabesh Kalita.
