Slight improvement in power scenario

GUWAHATI, July 26 � The overall power situation in the State saw a slight improvement on Wednesday with the shortfall during the peak load hours reduced by around 100 MW compared to Tuesday, sources in the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) said.

On Tuesday, the peak load hour shortfall was around 395 MW and it was 295 on Wednesday. However, the shortfall during the off peak load hour remained nearly same with that of Tuesday. On Wednesday, the off peak load hour shortfall was 38 MW.

The State on Wednesday received 445 MW of power from the Central Sector Generation Stations (CSGS) of the NE region during the off peak and peak load hours. It received respectively 73 MW and 71 MW of power from the Eastern Region during the off peak and peak load hours.

The Assam Power Generation Company Ltd supplied 245 MW of power to the State during the off peak load hours and it supplied 280 MW of power during the peak load hours. From the other sources the State received 59 MW of power during both the off peak and peak load hours.

The off peak load hour power demand of the State was 860 MW today. Its peak load hour power demand was 1150 MW on Wednesday.
