GUWAHATI, Feb 20: With an eye on strengthening its position in Assam and later in the rest of the North-east, Czech automobile brand Škoda Auto India on Friday launched its first 3S (Sales, Service and Spares) dealership facility – SSB Automobiles – at VIP Road here.

The new state-of-the-art dealership facility, which sports the new corporate identity and design as part of Škoda Auto’s global redesigning process, has been set up under the auto-maker’s India 2.1 project of having at least twice as many sales and service touchpoints across the country as it does today, by 2022.

Addressing a select group of mediapersons on the occasion, Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, said, “To ensure preparedness for India 2.1 launches, Škoda Auto India is continually striving to expand its network reach across the nation, so that not only more and more customers can experience our products but also enjoy easy access to our customer-centric aftersales solutions.

“Guwahati is a key market for us in North-east India, and we are confident that our partnership with SSB Automobiles will be pivotal for the brand and will further strengthen our foothold in Assam and NE markets.”

Revealing Skoda Auto’s plans for the North-east markets, Hollis said the company will next open a showroom in Jorhat, and then in Dibrugarh and Dimapur (Nagaland) by 2022.

To a question on the market for premium cars in India, he exuded confidence about brand Skoda Auto India’s prospects, saying that he sees more and more people buying premium cars in the days to come particularly for the safety aspect and then for comfort.

Talking about the current craze for SUVs in India, Hollis said Skoda Auto has lined up its SUV Kushaq for global premiere in India on March 18 next, and added that the model has been developed particularly for the Indian market as the company’s response to the craze for SUVs here.

On his part, Mukesh Singh, Dealer Principal, SSB Automobiles Pvt Ltd, said, “We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Škoda Auto India and introduce a new dealership facility in Guwahati. The modern architecture and streamlined business processes will provide an ideal backdrop for the presentation of Škoda Auto products to our customers.”
