Six-day entrepreneurship development prog ends

GUWAHATI, March 29 - A six-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for beneficiaries of the Prime Minister�s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) conducted by Assam Grameen Vikash Bank-RSETI, Kamrup (M) concluded at its campus on Tuesday.

�This was a general EDP training which was imparted to 22 beneficiaries under the PMEGP scheme of the district. The training was imparted to those beneficiaries who desire to be an entrepreneurs in the field of Tailoring and Readymade Garments, Steel Fabrication, Herbal Beauty Parlour Management, DTP & Xerox, Hotel and Fast Food, Electric Motor Pump Repairing, etc.

The training was conducted under the guidance and coordination of Sukanti Ranjan Bhattacharjee, faculty of the institute,� a press release stated.

The event was inaugurated by Pranab Borah, General Manager of DICC, Kamrup (M), Kamal Bhoumik, Regional Manager of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, RO, Guwahati and Durlov Chandra Nath, Director of the institute.

The valedictory programme was attended by VD Saraph, AGM of NABARD, Kamal Bhoumik, Regional Manager of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, RO Guwahati and MD Hazarika, Project Manager of DICC, Kamrup (Metro), along with other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries encouraged the trainees to establish their new enterprise as soon as possible and to generate at least one employment against investment of Rs one lakh. They also advised the trainees to maintain good relations with their bankers for future development. �

DC Nath, Director of the institute stated that loan totaling Rs 79 lakh had been sanctioned to the trainees by the various branches of AGVB, SBI, CBI, Allahabad Bank, Dena Bank, OBC, IOB and Indian Bank for their self-employment and employment generation.
