Situation should normalise soon: Singh

KOKRAJHAR, Aug 22 � Joint Secretary of MHA Shambhu Singh, who is heading a seven-member Central team to the violence-hit Kokrajhar district, said that the situation should normalize soon.

Talking to mediapersons after visiting the violence-hit areas, Singh said that they have found no involvement of any external forces in Kokrajhar, adding that the CBI which is conducting the investigations will definitely find out if there is any external involvement. He said that bringing the situation under control as soon as possible and rehabilitating the displaced people are now the top priorities.

Regarding the cases, he informed that there are over 1000 of cases regarding the incidents of violence which are being looked up by the CBI, the special investigation team of the State and by police. He has also pointed out that a detailed inquiry has been ordered while CBI and the SIT will come out with their findings very soon. However the judicial inquiry will take some time, he added.

Singh categorically ruled out direct involvement of a jehadi group in the incidents of violence at this stage and it would be unfair to comment on that without sufficient proof. However, he admitted that there are antisocial elements and criminals involved in arms trade in the border areas. He also said that there is a �deliberate malicious campaign in the social media.�

Singh has revealed that the Central team comprising joint secretaries of various ministries are looking at the process of relief and rehabilitation measure in the affected areas.
