By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 22 - The Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted to probe the death of Prasanta Kumar and three of his family members, is on the lookout for Pulin Gogoi whose name was mentioned in the suicide note recovered from the crime scene.

The body of Prasanta, his wife and his four-year-old son along with his sister-in-law were found lying on the bed of a hotel on Wednesday morning.

Gogoi, a former Assam Police personnel, could not to be traced by the investigators till the time of filing this report despite attempts made by the police which even searched his Nazira house.

The suicide note written apparently by Prasanta alleged that it was due to the fraudulent acts of Gogoi that he had decided to take the extreme step.

The note, which was addressed to the Chief Minister, Finance Minister and the DGP, alleged that Gogoi had collected Rs 77 lakh from 62 persons through him and others promising them Government jobs.

The suicide note mentioned that it was also due to the mental pressure exerted on him by six other persons that he (Prasanta) committed suicide.

A case has been registered at the Dispur police station based on the complaint lodged by Hemanta Kumar, brother of Prasanta, the police said.

Although the alleged involvement of another police officer has surfaced, the police said that it was trying to investigate his role.
