Single day spike of 34 positive cases in North Lakhimpur

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, July 10 - North Lakhimpur witnessed the highest spike of COVID-19 cases on a single day today with the confirmation of 34 persons as virus positive in the district.

The spike, which has taken a form of community spread, has been reported in the Bormuria Tiniali area in the southern part of the town attributed to the meeting with a Self Help Group. It has been learnt that a woman who had a travel history of returning from Guwahati on April 30, met one of her relatives from Bormuria Tiniali who belongs to a SHG. The person met other fellow members of the SHG spreading the disease with asymptomatic nature. Thirteen members of the women SHG has tested positive in North Lakhimpur. COVID-19 cases have also been reported from Khelmati, Milan Nagar and Railway Colony areas of North Lakhimpur.

In Nowboicha, six members of a family have tested positive of COVID-19 in Chamuahgaon village. Thirteen more COVID-19 cases have been reported from the same village.

All the infected persons have been shifted to special COVID hospitals in Narayanpur and Bobeenadi. The Airport Authority of India at Lilabari airport has presented a Life Support Ambulance with a mini Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to Lakhimpur district Health department as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Lakhimpur district administration has imposed containment zones in Bormuria Tiniali, Railway Colony and in a pharmacy in NT Road in North Lakhimpur. The Lakhimpur district Health department will also conduct swab tests on 170 persons in Railway Colony, North Lakhimpur tomorrow as a COVID-19 positive person attended a marriage party there recently.
