GUWAHATI, Feb 19 � Noted singer Mitali Chaudhury is seriously ill. She has been under medical supervision of the doctors of various specialties at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Mumbai Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for the past three days.
However, some minor improvements in her condition in terms of sipping water and also in recognizing the visitors, have been marked today, said her elder brother Dr P K Chaudhury. Possibility is also there of further improvement in her condition in the next couple of days, said Dr Chaudhury.
Her husband and former Minister Dilip Saikia told this newspaper that the 49-year-old singer, who has a number of hit songs to her credit, earlier got a tumour removed from her ovary. She was operated upon following stomach pains.
But, later on, it was detected that she has been suffering from cancer and two doses of chemo therapy were applied on her. She developed cardiac problems subsequently and now some blood clots have been detected in her brain, said Saikia, making an appeal to the people to pray for the quick recovery of the artiste.
