Sindhu to play Saina in final

GUWAHATI, Feb 15 - A mouth-watering clash is on the cards in the Yonex-Sunrise 83rd Senior National Badminton Championships as PV Sindhu will face Saina Nehwal in the women�s singles final tomorrow.

In the first semifinal of the championship, local girl Ashmita Chaliha put up a spirited show before going down to Olympic medallist PV Sindhu. Ashmita went down fighting 21-10, 22-20 in the first semifinal of the event. After losing the first game, Ashmita tried to make a comeback with a determined show in front of the capacity home crowd. At one stage, she was leading 17-13 but the experienced Sindhu kept her cool and clinched the game and the match convincingly.

In the second semifinal, defending champion Saina Nehwal outclassed Vaishnavi Bhale 21-15, 21-14 to reach the final.

In the first men�s singles semifinal, Sourav Verma defeated Kaushal Dharmamer 21-14, 21-17 to enter the final while Lakshya Sen downed Parupalli Kashyap 21-15, 21-16 in the second semifinal.

Earlier, in the quarterfinals defending champion Saina hardly broke a sweat to get the better of former India No. 1 Neha Pandit of Mumbai 21-10, 21-10 in a lop-sided quarterfinal contest.
