DOOMDOOMA, Dec 14 - Project Udayak of the Border Road Organisation (BRO) having its headquarter here has completed its twenty five years of existence. The project was raised on June 1, 1990 to cater for road works in East Siang, Lower Dibang, Dibang, Lohit, Anjaw, Changlang and Tirap districts of Arunachal Pradesh and certain portion of Tinsukia district in Assam.
It is due to the herculean efforts of this project that remote areas like Kibithu in Lohit district and Anini in Dibang district of Arunachal Pradesh are today connected by motorable roads. Besides meeting the requirement of defence preparedness, the roads and bridges constructed by Project Udayak has enabled remarkable infrastructure development in the entire region in the last two decades.
The project which is presently under the command of Umesh Chandra Mehta, Chief Engineer celebrated its silver jubilee here from December 12 to 14 with gaiety and fervor while redeeming the Motto of the Project Achievement through Excellence. A souvenir named Udayak Darpan was also published on the occasion.
