Silpi Divas observed at Nagaon

NAGAON, Jan 18 � Silpi Divas was observed in Nagaon under the auspices of different literary, cultural and social organisations on January 17. National Youth award winner NGO Sadou Asam Gramya Puthibharal Santha and Sankar Jyoti Branch of Sahitya Sabha jointly observed the day.

The programme began with the paying of floral tributes at the portrait of Jyotiprasad which was formally initiated by Biren Das, former VP of Dimaria College. Well-known persons like actor Jnanda Bora, headmaster Bhaben Ch Nath, headmistress Milima Bodo, secretary of the unit of Sahitya Sabha Prabhat Chandra Deuri also paid floral tributes at his portrait.

Jnada Bara, Biren Das and Prabhat Ch Deuri also spoke in the function which was chaired by the secretary of the santha Balladev Sharma. Ujala Biswas and Sagarika Bora presented Jyoti Sangeet in the function. The meeting was conducted by Khagen Ch Nath, Nagaon District secretary of Asom Sanskritik Mahasabha.

Under the auspices of Nagaon Zila Sahitya Sabha and Rajasthani Sanmilani the divas was observed. Floral tributes were paid at the statue of Jyotiprasad at Dacca Patty where former VP of Asam Sahitya Sabha Indreswar Goswami, Minister Rockybul Hussain, president of Rajasthani Sanmilani Bajranglal Agarawala, MLA Durlav Chamua, district sahitya sabha secy Padum Rajkhowa took part.

Nagaon Bhogali Bihu Celebration Committee also observed the day where Satriya artist Bhuban Ch Bora of Kaliabor, dramatist and director Ajit Barthakur, and writer Pratibha Goswami who translated the Naamghosa into Oriya language were honoured.

The Dhing unit of Asam Sahitya Sabha and Luitparia Yubak Sangha also observed Silpi Divas in Dhing on January 17. The programme began with the hoisting of flag by Purna Ch Bora, president of Dhing Sahitya Sabha. Floral tributes was paid by Nowgong College Principal Dr Sarat Barkataki at the portrait of Jyotiprasad Agarwala.

Synchronising with the Silpi Divas, a statue of Dr Bhupen Hazarika will be constructed at the premises of Madhavdev Natya Mandir, Dhing. The construction work was formally started by MLA Gautam Bara on January 17. Sangeet Shilpi Mancha of Nagaon also observed the day.
