Silk expo in city from tomorrow

By The Assam Tribune

GUWAHATI, April 2 - In order to ensure that Silk Mark the special mark ascertaining the purity of silk gains further credibility and popularity, a silk mark expo is being organized by the Silk Mark Organization of India at NEDFi House here from April 4 to 8.

The expo, under the aegis of the Central Silk Board, exclusively involves the authorized Silk Mark users, who are weavers, manufacturers, NGOs, prominent silk dealers, exporters and government-backed agencies from all over the country. Altogether 43 authorized users will showcase the entire range of pure silk products affixed with silk mark labels.

Other than 22 exhibitors from the Northeast, 21 exhibitors from outside the region will bring the pure silk products from Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Tripura, UP and West Bengal.

This event is an ideal platform to not only popularize silk mark labels and provide valuable linkages to the stakeholders, but also to encourage the local entrepreneurs for starting their silk business, the organizers said.
