GUWAHATI, April 6 - Silchar secured a 39-run first innings lead with seven wickets in hand in the quarterfinal league match of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament.
At the ACA Stadium in Barsapara here today, being asked to bat first, Lakhimpur batsmen were in trouble and were bundled out for a meagre 111 in 43.5 overs on the opening day of the two-day match. Spinner Rahul Singh ripped through the Lakhimpur innings with a fifer while Hrishikesh Borah (36 n.o.) and Rudra Pradhan (32) were the only notable contributors with the bat.
In reply, Silchar were 150 for three in 48.2 overs at the end of day�s play. Prasenjit Sarkar (63) and Samik Das (35 n.o.) were the notable contributors for Silchar.
