Silchar gather 220, Bongaigaon 73/2

GUWAHATI, April 2: Chasing a first innings total of 220 set by Silchar, Bongaigaon were 73 for the loss of two wickets on the opening day of the two-day quarterfinal league match of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara here today.

Opting to bat first, Silchar were in trouble after losing six wickets with the team�s total reading 69 after 19 overs. But a 109-run partnership between Ikramul Ali and Pritam Das for the seventh wicket gave Silchar the much needed relief.

Bongaigaon, at stumps, were 73 for the loss of two wickets. Parthajit Baishya and Pallav Kr Das were at the crease with 29 and 17 respectively.

Roshan hits ton: At the NF Railway Stadium in Maligaon, Lakhimpur scored 252 in the first innings against Jorhat today.

Deciding to bat first, Lakhimpur were in trouble at the initial stage, but a fine knock of 109 off 146 balls by Roshan Basfor helped them to reach a challenging total.

At the close of first day�s play, Jorhat were 4 for no loss.
