Sikkim CM meets old settlers, business community

By A Correspondent

GANGTOK, Dec 28 - Sikkim Chief Minister PS Golay today held a meeting with representatives of old settlers and the business community of the State.

The president of the Sikkim Chamber of Commerce was also present in the meeting.

The old settlers and business community requested the Chief Minister to look into their outstanding demands. A statement issued by the Information and Public Relations Department said that the Chief Minister assured them that unlike the previous Government, which kept their demands pending, the present SKM-led Government would do everything possible to solve them without any delay.

The Chief Minister stated that in January a high-level delegation comprising his Cabinet ministers and representatives of the old settlers would leave for New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss and settle the demands of the old settlers and the business community of Sikkim.

The old settlers are the people who came to the State before 1975 when Sikkim merged with India.
