Sikh Light Infantry champs

GOALPARA, Sept 3 � The Charlie Company of the 9th Sikh Light Infantry emerged as champions in the Inter Company Handball competition of 9th Sikh Light Regiment which was concluded on September 2 at their Paikan, Krishnai camp. In the finals, Charlie company defeated their nearest rival Alpha company, both from the 9th Sikh Light Infantry by a huge margin of 20-6 goals. The final match was very absorbing and boisterous as all the officers and the respective company personal 9th Sikh Light Infantry came out in open to support their respective teams. During the match, Alpha team showed the right team sprits and moved around smoothly through their short passes and exploited the flanks to dominate the Charlie team which somehow lacked the agility and smoothness of their rivals.

The Inter Company Handball competition started on August 24 and a total of 24 matches were played on pool basis between all the 6 companies of the 9th Sikh Light regiment stationed in the area. While giving away the trophy to the winning team and also felicitating all the players at the prize distribution ceremony, Col Sanjeev Mehotra, commanding officer, 9th Sikh Light Infantry said that though the operational successes of the army is noteworthy but to manage and maintain the high morale of its personal and to keep them always on toes such sporting competitions are held all over the year.
