Shotokan karate begins

GUWAHATI, May 5 - Under the aegis of the Shotokan Karate-Do Promotion Council of United Karate-Do Association, Assam (UKAA), in association with Japan Karate Association India, Assam and Greater Guwahati Karate Association, the 2nd All Assam Shotokan Karate Championship began at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium here today.

Altogether 470 players from 14 districts-Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sonitpur, Golaghat, Kamrup, Darrang, Titabor, Karbi Anglong, Nagaon, Barpeta, Baksa, Dhubri and Guwahati are taking part in the two-day meet.

A day-long Shotokan karate training camp and workshop for all the participants was held today which was conducted by the chief instructor of Japan Karate Association of India Anand Ratna. Total 60 different events in sub junior, cadet, junior and senior categories will be played in the championship.
