Shooting range in city inaugurated

GUWAHATI, April 22 - The newly set up shooting range at the RG Baruah Sports Complex here, billed Lakshyabheda, was inaugurated today.

The 10-metre range is constructed under the aegis of the Board of Sports of Assam, Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, and Assam Rifle and Shooting Association.

Sudhakar Singh, president of Lakshyabheda said in his welcome address that it is an ISSF standard 10-metre air rifle/pistol shooting range where the budding talents will get opportunity in honing their skills.

Young shooting talent Hriday Hazarika, who made a mark in the national and international shooting circuit at the age of 15, was felicitated by the organisers on the occasion.

Inaugurating the range, senior Assam Police officer Pallab Bhattacharyya said that this range will be useful for the youngsters of the city as the existing shooting range situated in the 4th AP Bn, Kahilipara campus is not convenient for everybody.

He also vouched for supplying ammunition to the trainees at subsidised rates as it is not easy for all the beginners to purchase the costly weapons.

Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Pabitra Ram Khound, State shooting body�s secretary Bhaba Kalita, journalist Pronoy Bordoloi were also present on the occasion.
