GUWAHATI, Oct 9 � Former Test cricketer and interim president of BCCI Shivlal Yadav will visit the city tomorrow to attend the foundation day function of the Veteran Cricket Association of Assam (VCAA) as chief guest. MV Sridhar, general manager cricket operation, BCCI will be present as guest of honour on the occasion.
The VCAA is celebrating its 16th annual day with various programmes. They will honour Abdur Robb (Baboon) with the Cricket Coach award while Dr Tapan Dutta and Sunil Bhattacharjee will be honoured with Organiser and Life Time Achievement Award respectively. Sanjive Narain, CMD of Prag Channel is sponsoring the programme.
The organisers will also accord warm felicitation to all the team members of the U-19 women team which became joint winner in the All India U-19 Women�s Cricket Tournament in 2013-14. On the occasion, Akshay Narain (U-16), Mrinmoy Dutta (U-19), Amit Sinha (U-25), Gakul Sharma (Ranji), Santi Rai (U-19 girls) and Rotu Dhruv (Women) will also be honoured for their remarkable performance during the last season in BCCI tournaments. The veteran cricketers have played a friendly match at the Assam Cricket Association�s Barsapara stadium today.
The annual day celebration function will be held at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium tomorrow at 6 pm. Yadav will also visit the Barsapara stadium.
