MANGALDAI, April 6 - BJP national president Amit Shah on Tuesday afternoon here criticised Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and his Congress-led Government in the State for allegedly crossing all limits of corruption and anomalies during their 15-year tenure.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi gets the first rank for his role in large-scale corruption and hence he should be conferred the Bhrastachar Shiromani award. He also seems to be tired to lead the State as the Chief Minister and so the people of Assam should elect a young and dynamic person like Sarbananda Sonowal only to bring in a total change with the motto Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash, he said.
He was attending an election rally of the BJP-AGP-BPF alliance late on Tuesday afternoon at a public ground at Bhebarghat, near the residence of Congress candidate for Mangaldai and Minister of Water Resources and Fishery Basanta Das here.
Landing at Mangaldai in a private helicopter with BJP leaders Mahendra Singh and Sarbananda Sonowal, the BJP president also criticised the Congress Government in the State for their total failure to protect the rhinos.
Alleging secret alliance of Tarun Gogoi with AIUDF president Badaruddin Ajmal, Amit Shah made it clear that the BJP would prefer to sit in Opposition for 50 years than making an alliance with the AIUDF. In his speech, Shah also criticised the Congress for its failure to construct the double track rail line to Assam, though the Congress has ruled the country since Independence.
Regarding illegal infiltration from Bangladesh, he pointed out that after the extradition treaty between the two countries, the Bangladesh border will now be sealed in such way that even an insect will not be able to enter Assam illegally.
Taking part in a rally called Bijay Sankalpa Samabesh, Sarbananda Sonowal also slammed the Congress Government for its failure to ensure the security of the indigenous people of the State.
The people of the entire country are speaking in one voice for a change and the people of Assam, irrespective of community, caste and religion, also want a change in the Government only to ensure its security, he said.
The BJP-AGP-BPF alliance candidates in the three LACs namely Binanda Saikia (Sipajhar), Guru Jyoti Das (Mangaldai) and Habibor Rahman of AGP (Dalgaon) and Mangaldai Lok Sabha MP Ramen Deka also addressed the gathering.
During the rally, the BJP candidate for Mangaldai LAC, Guru Jyoti Das, made an assurance to save the constituency from the Dalal Raaj culture, alleging that the Congress party is working with its slogan Dalal ka Saath, Dalal ka Bikash.
