GUWAHATI, Aug 22 - A general meeting of Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) held on Saturday voiced grave concern over the devastating floods in the State and urged the Central Government to assist the Assam Government in a big way to tide over the crisis.

In a statement, SGBG said that given the worsening flood situation and the devastations caused so far, the State Government alone would find it impossible to tackle the situation and the Centre must come forward with a liberal helping hand.

The SGBG also urged the politicians of the State to desist from political mudslinging in this hour of distress and to put up a concerted effort instead to ensure relief and rehabilitation to the flood-hit.
