GUWAHATI, Jan 20 The Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) president Dhiren Baruah has appealed to the district administration to ask the schools of the district to declare a seven-day holiday to give the children some respite from the cold wave.
Unprecedented cold has gripped the State this time and the small children are facing immense problem in attending their school braving the winter chill. Parents of many children have approached me to make an appeal to the district authorities in his regard, he said.
Since the exams are over in most of the schools, a week-long holiday can be declared. Schools in the cities like Delhi, Patna and Kolkata have already taken this step, Baruah added.
The NGO has also approached the Chief Secretary with a similar demand.
