GUWAHATI, March 21 - Considering that the demand for rail travel by passengers will be vastly reduced during the Janata Curfew from 7 am to 9 pm the Railways has decided that all local passenger trains originating between midnight of March 21 to 22:00 hours of March 22 will remain cancelled.

Moreover, all long distance mail, express and intercity trains originating between 4:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs on March 22 will also remain cancelled. However, trains already on run on that day will continue to run to their respective destinations.

The NFR is taking all precautionary steps to discourage people from taking non-essential journeys and to encourage social distancing by the passengers for their safety to restrict the spread of the virus. Trains with low occupancy are already being canceled, an NFR spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Spicejet has suspended all four of their flights between Kolkata, Dibrugarh and Guwahati. Druk Airways has already cancelled its international flight from Paro and Singapore till March 29.

IndiGos Agartala to Chennai via Guwahati flight also stands cancelled from March 22 to 28.

But as airports fall under essential services, all 12 airports in the region will remain functional.
